Bernie's Story

In 1994, while working in the petroleum industry, Bernie, a 27 year old family man, was critically injured. As a result of the horrific incident, he was burned over 70% of his body and rendered a quadriplegic. Armed with an indomitable spirit and an unquenchable determination, Bernie and Sheila faced the situation squarely and came through it stronger and wiser.

They now have a burning desire to make a difference in the lives of other workers and their families. As soon as Bernie was physically able, he and Sheila began sharing the events surrounding this incident to prevent others from incurring a similar fate.

Bernie and Sheila now share the message with people from all walks of life. Their lived experience provides the basis for two audiences: one of caution and safety, and one of overcoming unimaginable challenges.
